D-Link DIR-601 Wireless N 150 Home Router – wireless router overview:

D-Link introduces the Wireless N 150 Home Router (DIR-601), which delivers high performance end-to-end wireless connectivity based on Wireless N technology. The DIR-601 provides better wireless coverage and improved speeds over previous-generation Wireless G*. Upgrading your home network to Wireless N 150 provides an excellent solution for experiencing better wireless performance while sharing a broadband Internet connection with multiple computers over a secure wireless network.

Utilizing the benefits of Wireless N technology, the DIR-601 performs faster file transfers and farther coverage enabling greater wireless signals across your home. Not only does the DIR-601 extend your wireless range, it also works with your existing Wireless G devices.

The D-Link DIR-601 makes it easy to set up your wireless network in your home or office without professional installation. The DIR-601 includes an Installation Wizard CD-ROM, which walks you through the easy step-by-step installation process to set up your wireless network and Internet connection in minutes. Once the setup process is complete, you can share a high-speed Internet connection, files, media, and more.

Create a wireless network to share high-speed Internet access with computers, game consoles, and media players with greater distances and coverage across your home than previous-generation Wireless G technology*.

  • Automatically powers down ports that have no link
  • Budgets power output for different Ethernet cable lengths
  • Includes wireless LAN scheduling, which can shut down your wireless network when not in use for further power savings
  • Reduces energy consumption by using an Energy Star® qualified power adapter

Mine keeps signing off everything but the computer connection every once in a while. I am almost ready to go and sell it, very annoying when playing a game with ps3 on wireless or wired through one of the dlink ports. Is there anything I can do to keep it from having a low signal and stop from disconnecting then reconnecting?

My issue is the same as Ron’s my pc stayed connected and the laptop dropped and its annoying to keep resetting so i was advised Netgear G will work perfect with windows 7 . Most reviews I have researched state the same so the people that are having great things to rave about have either older systems and NOT windows & or I think even Vista but dont quote me on that But dont make my mistake save 50% and buy a netgear g if you have small house if not get N series Amazon you can even save more you can get them for as low as 18.00 its worth a shot. But PLEASE check system before you spend your $ on DIR 601 or DLINK N 150 so i give this one a thumbs down for sure!! and DLINK support doesn’t quite get it. or maybe there not knowledge enough on there own equipment.

Tana, While navigating through the D-Link DIR-601 wizard can be somewhat confusing, what I recommend is downloading the FREE version of Network Magic. I have the Pro version, but either will set up and manage Networks EASILY, and especially easier than your router software.

My Outlook 2010 drops/seeks connection ever 5-10 minutes this never happened with my $9 airlink router. I had this happen before though with a virus. But reading the reports from Ron above this could be an issue with hardware and like Jen I have Windows 7 64bit. I noticed a speed improvement but this 1-3 second inconsistent connection ever 5 minutes or so is an issue.

For my business use it is not noticeable web pages still open with good speed, ftp file copies continue without complaint. It is just noticeable because I see a symbol showing it is not able to communicate with exchange server periodically.

My Dlink 601 keeps dropping the connection every 4-5 days it goes offline. I then have to push the reset button on the back of the router before the software will let me re-install. Why does it do this? Is it the router of my cable service? Of course, installation take about 15-20 minutes and is a pain. Any solutions?

this modem is terrible… my neighbor’s router comes in stronger than this one does almost everywhere in my house. the dropping is the really big issue however and some devices can’t even connect. I think the dual band is the problem… if you’re considering buying this… DON’T!
