To set your computer to obtain IP address automatically (DHCP):

Step 1. Choose Apple menu > System Preferences, then click Network.

Step 2. Select the network connection you want to use (such as Ethernet) in the list.

Step 3. Click the ‘Configure IPv4’ pop-up menu, then choose this option: Using DHCP.

To set your computer with a static IP address:

Step 1. Choose Apple menu > System Preferences, then click Network.

Step 2. Select the network connection you want to use (such as Ethernet) in the list.

Step 3. Click the ‘Configure IPv4’ pop-up menu, then choose this option: Manually.

Step 4. Enter the address in the IP Address field. Specify other information such as the subnet mask, router address, and Domain Name System (DNS) server address. To enter the DNS server address, click Advanced, click DNS, then click the Add button + and enter the address.
